How to create an Ether/Ethereum Wallet

We’re going to mount the original ether wallet for windows today. A pre-release is the latest version (0.5.2 Beta 10). That is why, for the moment, you can test the Ether wallet with smaller quantities. It’s been going well for us so far without any mistakes. We will introduce you to the fundamental functions below.
  • Download and create a wallet with ether
  • Configuring a new account
  • Send and receive Ether
  • Stable accounts with ether

1. Download and install an ether wallet.

You can download the current version of ether wallets here: Ether Wallet Download. You can choose from versions for Linux (32bit and 64bit), Mac OS X and Windows (64bit). We choose the windows version and download it. You only have to unpack the file after the download. After that, the ether wallet can be used without installing it. You simply have to start the file “Ethereum-Wallet”.

You have to fill in some information when opening the Ethereum-Wallet file for the first time. You select “Main Network”  in the first process. Afterwards, you have the option of importing a presale account. You can skip this move if you do not have one. In the next step, you need to enter your first ether account password. A combination of at least 15 characters, composed of upper and lower case letters, special characters and numbers, is recommended. Notice your password on the outside of your phone. Any time you want to email Ether, you need this password.
The ether wallet is synchronized after selecting your password. Because of the fast growing blockchain, when you begin it for the first time, it takes several hours. After that with the account info, the ether wallet opens.

Here once more the single steps, when starting your ether wallet for the first time:

  1. Choose “Main Network”
  2. Choose “skip” in import presale account (unless you have a presale account)
  3. Choose a secure password
  4. Wait several hours

2. Create a new ether account

“In the account info, you can create a new Ether account by clicking “add account”. You’ve just got to pick a password. Your ether account could potentially be compromised by hackers, since your ether account is stored on your computer. Criminals can enter the ether only if they know your password. This is the reason why choosing a safe password is so crucial.
3. Sending and receiving ether
It’s really quick! You have to give the transmitter your ether address in order to receive either. Tap the ether account that you want to use to obtain the ether. If you click on the copy address, your ether address is saved in the cache. To fill in your ether address in the appropriate spot, press Ctrl+V on your keyboard at the same time. If you want to send the ether, click on the top bar to send. You can select which account to use in the ‘from’ field if you have multiple accounts. Fill in the address of the recipient in the ‘to’ area. The quantity of Ether is seen. Tick the box “send all” if you want to send the entire volume of ether of the chosen account. You can select the fee paid in “choose fee” with the regulator. The amount of the charge affects the speed of the transfer. In the middle, we set up the regulator. We are also paying a fee of approx. 1 Cent at the moment per move. Click the ‘send’ button and check the transfer with your password.
4. Secure ether accounts
To safeguard the ether accounts from a failure, protect them. Click in the ether wallet on “accounts” and select “backup” and “accounts” again. The ethereum folder is now opening up. All of your Ether accounts are stored in the Keystore folder. For example, it is sufficient to copy them on a USB Stick to protect your ether account. For example, if you ever lose access to your data because of a hard drive error, you can easily re-download the ether wallet and copy the ether accounts from your USB Stick to the keystore folder. After restarting the ether wallet, you will again have complete access to the ether.
